Did you know...

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Long before Fort Lauderdale Beach became a bustling destination for restaurants, hotels, and beachgoers, this stretch of land was owned by Hugh Taylor Birch, often called the “Father of Fort Lauderdale Beach.” In the early 1900s, Birch purchased more than three miles of barrier island property that would later help shape the development of the beach area we know today.

Today, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park remains a rare natural oasis in the middle of the city, offering shaded trails, coastal hammock forest, and scenic views of the Intracoastal Waterway. Located just west of Fort Lauderdale Beach, the park sits near the vibrant dining district explored throughout our food tour experience.

If you arrive early, consider exploring the park before or after your food tour experience. With scenic walking paths, wildlife, and beautiful views of the water, it’s a great way to start your Fort Lauderdale Beach adventure.
